Codename Agent Blanche, the last surviving British female spy of the World War II

Her real-life story is that which can only be read in spy books or see in movies. Yet Agent Blanche was was daring, real and very much alive to tell her war exploits.

Sonya Esmée Florence Butt or Sonya d’Artois from Kent was then young and bold. The British teenager was only 15 when World War II broke out. At 17, she joined the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force but was confined in the office because the front lines were usually reserved for the male soldiers.

The Telegraph reports that her life story can be read in a book, The Woman Who Spied for Britain, written by Robyn Walker.
